After many requests, Wren and Cuff have finally decided to offer a big box version of their coveted Eye See ‘78. Like the OG muffer from the same year, the Eye See ‘78 utilizes ICs instead of transistors, producing a monstrous and wooly sound like the one popularized by Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins on Siamese Dream. This big box edition is an authentic replication of the V4 Big Muff circuit and features 100% through hole components and specially selected ICs for authentic vintage tone. It also incorporates the ’79 V5 tone bypass switch, giving the player the option of removing the passive tone stack from the circuit for a raw and open sound. For fine tuning beyond the stock V4 circuit, there is an internal secret adjustment available to discerning players.
The attention to detail doesn’t stop at the circuit and component level. Wren and Cuff reached out to two LA-based small businesses–both decades old and family owned–to source the enclosure for this striking pedal. The face of the pedal features old school hand silk screened graphics. The enclosure itself is made of durable heavy-duty lacquer coated industrial folded steel, ready for any stage, studio, or rehearsal room.
Those looking for a largely-untamed IC-based fuzz and distortion machine, with the ability to adapt to most genres of music under the sun, will need look no further than the Eye See ‘78.
