Kelly Guitars / Carmine Street Guitars T-Style Guitar

You're looking at a stunning mint condition Kelly Guitars / Carmine Street Guitars T-Style custom guitar. This guitar was hand-built by Rick Kelly of Carmine Street Guitars in New York. Rick salvages wood from construction sites all over New York to build his guitars. He calls this wood "the bones of old New York"

In particular, the neck on this guitar comes from the Chelsea Hotel. The body is from McGurk's, an infamous brothel and drinking establishment on the Bowery. Both pieces are over 300 years old -- old growth wood was used to build these places over 140 years ago.

The big neck is very comfortable to play, and is similar to the one on the guitar Rick built for Bill Kirchen. Bill has been using this as his primary guitar for a few years now. There is no truss rod needed, as the wood is extremely stable at this point. It makes the guitar super light and resonant.

Rick carves and machines all of this by hand in his tiny shop in Greenwich Village. The beautiful rope pyrography extends underneath the pickguard.

The pickups were custom wound by Don Mare. The waitlist is now about 2 years for Don's pickups.

The leatherwork and metal etching is by El Dorado Guitar Accessories in Los Angeles, CA.
